It wasn’t my intention to stop writing over the holidays, but I suppose that’s the way it goes sometimes. November and December were busy months. In addition to the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years get-togethers we had plenty of other things filling the schedule.
In November we started moving from our house in Ankeny, IA an hour away to Grinnell, IA. Stephanie lived here growing up and we both went to church here, so we feel right at home. While we moved the majority of our things in one weekend there were several “follow-on” trips that ran through the end of December. We’re glad to be fully moved out of our house and mostly unpacked here in Grinnell. Some friends of ours from church are going to rent our house for two years. We prayed a lot about what to do with our house, and we’re glad God has provided an answer to our prayers for awhile.
We made a couple trips to Missouri in November as well. One was a ministry partnership trip during which we got to visit with several friends and family members. The other was for my cousin’s wedding. During the wedding I got to run a video call on Skype so my other cousin (the groom’s brother) could watch the ceremony from Uganda. It felt great to be able to use my IT skills in a small way to connect missionaries in Africa with their family back home–some foreshadowing of one of the things I’ll get to do in Congo.
We recently had an ultrasound and are excited to announce that we are expecting a son in May! Woohoo! The doctor is concerned about an area of the heart and with the kidneys from the images, so we are going to have a more in-depth ultrasound soon. Please pray that everything is alright!
Those are the highlights of the last several weeks. We’ll try to do a better job keeping you updated. Thank you to everyone who is praying for us and giving financially to our ministry!
